1973년 결성된 스웨덴 출신의 4인조 혼성그룹으로 남자 2명, 여성 2명으로
구성된 아바(ABBA는 이들 멤버 이름의 이니셜을 모은 것이다)
스웨덴이 자랑하는 국보급 그룹으로 오늘날 스웨덴이 팝 시장에서
강국이 되는데 결정적 공헌을 하였으며 그룹이 해체된 지금도 스웨덴 팝이라
하면 아바를 떠올리게되는 설명이 필요 없는 그룹이다
혼성 그룹으로서..맴버들간의 동거...결혼 이혼등 팬들을 실맡키는 경우도
종종있었던 아바였지만 여기서는 그들의 사생활을 거론할 필요는 없겠죠~^^
이들은 비틀즈 다음으로...가장많은 음반 판매량을 기록하고있는
그룹으로써..지금은 음반 수익 외에도 여러가지 사업으로 역량을
넓여서 세계적인 재벌이 되엇다.^^*
팝 음악계에 기록을 남긴 여러 그룹중 이들 만큼 커다란 금자탑을 세웠던
팀은 많지 않다.그룹 아바가 해체된지 10여년이 지났지만 아직도 그들의 음악은
어디에서나 들려지고 있으며 앨범 역시전 세계에서 꾸준히 판매가 되고 있는 상황이
그것을 입증한다. 멤버 이름의 첫 글자를 따서 만든 그룹 아바는 1972년
스톡홀름에서 탄생되었으며.두쌍의 부부 커플로 이루어진 이들은 그룹 결성
이전부터 솔로로서 활동을 하였다.
남성 멤버인 베니는 60년대 팝 그룹인 헵 스타즈에 멤버로 있었으며 비욘은 후트내니
싱어즈에서 노래를 하던중. 1966년 이들 두 사람이 만나게 되어 듀오로 활동을 하다
노르웨이 출신의 프리다라는 여성 신인가수와 베니가 결혼을 한다.
1971년에는 비욘이 연인인 아그네사와 결혼하여 1972년 ABBA라는 그룹명을 정하고
4인조로 출발하게 되었다.
그 후 Honey Honey, S.O.S 를 발표 세계적인 그룹으로 인정받게 되었으며 Dancing Queen,
Take A Chance on Me,Gimme Gimme Gimme ,등의 히트곡들을 발표하였다.
발라드 하면서도 경쾌한 선율의 사운드로 전 세계 팝 팬들을 매료시킨 그들은 1979년
유니세프 자선공연에서 Chiquitita 로 찬사를 받았고두 쌍이 이혼한 1981년에도
그들은 앨범 'The Visitor' 를 발표하였고 1982년 'The Singles' 를 발표하면서
건재함을 과시하였으나 아그네사와 프리다가 각각 솔로 앨범을 발표하면서 결국
해체가 되고 말았다.
그룹 아바가 해체된지 오랜 세월이 흘렀지만 그들이 남겨놓은 음악의 불꽃은
영원히 타오를 것이다.
